“Our soul is like an inner steam of water, which gives strength, direction, and harmony to every other element of our life. When that stream is as it should be, we are constantly refreshed and exuberant in all we do, because our soul itself is then profusely rooted in the vastness of God and his kingdom, including nature; and all else within us is enlivened and directed by that stream.”

~ Dallas Willard, Renovation of the Heart

Poetry

Over the past five years, poetry has become for me a space in which to draw near to Jesus, to explore the honest longings of my heart in prayer, to wrestle with the hardships of life. This was never more true than in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in the fall of 2024. In December of 2025, I published a small collection of poems and photographs that were born out of my experience of Helene called After the Storm: Poems and Prayers. You can also find my poetry on Substack below.

Solo: Creating Space With God

In 2020, I had the privilege of writing a book with my dear friend, Stephen W. Smith, called Solo: Creating Space With God. Our desire in writing the book was to give folks a simple guide for crafting a day alone with God. We take a look at the life of Jesus and the rhythms of rest and retreat he models for us throughout the Gospels, touch on various spiritual disciplines, and present a sample retreat itinerary. I invite you to check it out.

The State of My Soul

Have often have you been asked the question, “How are you doing?”, and been unable to answer because of the busyness and the stress of life? The State of My Soul is a simple tool designed to help all of us take an internal inventory, to find words for how we’re doing emotionally, physically, spiritually, relationally, and vocationally. It’s an onramp into honest prayer and vulnerable conversation with friends and family. To learn more about this helpful tool, check out the link below.
